Terms of service
The terms on which we quote, book and carry out pressure washing and soft washing at your property.
Last updated
01Who your contract is with
The Pressure Wash Brigade is a trading name of The Trade Brigade Pty Ltd (ACN 702 347 313). In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company, and "you" means the person who books the job. When you book with us, your contract is with that company.
Your contract is made up of your written quote and these terms. If your quote says something different from these terms, the quote applies.
By booking, you confirm that you own the property or have the owner's permission to have the work done, for example as a tenant or property manager.
The Trade Brigade Pty Ltd also trades as The Trade Brigade (https://www.thetradebrigade.com.au). The Brigade Club is run by The Trade Brigade under its own terms, published on that site.
02Quotes
Every quote is in writing and itemised, so you can see what each part of the job costs. It says which areas we'll clean, which method we'll use on each surface, and anything we think might not fully come up.
A quote is valid for 30 days from the date on it.
The price won't change without your agreement. If we find something on the day that wasn't in the quote, such as a bigger area than described or a surface that needs a different method, we'll stop, explain it, and give you a price before doing any extra work. You can say no, and we'll do only what was quoted.
If we quoted from photos or a description and the job turns out to be quite different, we'll give you a new quote before we start. If you don't want to go ahead, there's no charge.
03Bookings, rescheduling and cancelling
We don't take a deposit unless your written quote says so.
You can reschedule or cancel for free with at least 24 hours' notice. Ring or email us. If you've paid a deposit, we'll move it to the new date or refund it in full.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or we can't get in when we arrive, we only charge a fee if your quote sets one out. Any such fee covers our reasonable costs of the lost visit, and nothing more.
If we need to reschedule, we'll tell you as early as we can and find a new time that suits you. If we cancel and you've paid a deposit, you can have it back in full.
04Weather
Some jobs can't be done safely or properly in rain or high wind. Rain washes cleaning solution off before it can work, and wind carries spray onto things that shouldn't get wet.
If the weather means a job can't go ahead, we'll ring you, usually the day before or early that morning, and rebook it at no cost to you. If we have to stop part-way through, we'll come back to finish at no extra cost, and you pay once the job is done.
05Getting in and getting ready
Before we arrive, please:
- leave side gates unlocked, or tell us the gate code
- keep pets inside or away from the work area
- move cars off the driveway and away from walls being cleaned
- move pot plants, outdoor furniture, toys and doormats off the areas being cleaned
- close all windows and doors, including garage doors, on the sides being cleaned
If something can't be moved, tell us and we'll work round it or cover it. Surfaces are wet and slippery while we work, so please keep children and pets clear until we're done.
06Water and power
We use an outside tap and a power point at the property where one is available. The small cost of the water and power used is yours.
If there's no outside tap or power point we can use, or the water is on a tank, please tell us when you book. We'll let you know if we can bring our own and whether that changes the price, before you confirm the booking.
07The condition of your surfaces
Cleaning can show up problems that were already there but were hidden under the dirt. These include loose or flaking paint, cracked or drummy render (the smooth coat over brick), crumbling mortar between bricks, worn sealer or coatings, cracked roof tiles, and rotten or soft timber.
We look over each surface before we start, and take before photos. Where we can see a problem, we point it out and talk it through with you before we begin. If we find one part-way through, we stop and tell you.
We're not responsible for defects that were already there before we started. This doesn't limit our responsibility for any damage we cause through a lack of due care and skill. If we cause damage, we'll put it right.
08Keeping water out
We keep water away from windows, doors, vents, weep holes (the small gaps at the bottom of brick walls) and other openings, and use low pressure near them.
Please tell us about any leaks you know of, damaged seals round windows or doors, and open or broken vents. We'll plan the job round them. If you tell us about a weak spot, we'll take extra care there.
09Run-off, gardens and waterways
We protect gardens, lawns, ponds and pools. We wet plants down before and rinse them after where a cleaning solution is used, and cover what needs covering. We may ask you to turn off a pool pump or cover a fish pond while we work.
We don't let cleaning products run into stormwater drains, creeks, rivers or the harbour. Over or next to a waterway, and on jetties and pontoons, we use water only.
We take care not to spray onto neighbouring property. Please let us know if a neighbour's car, window or garden is close to the area being cleaned.
10What results to expect
Most dirt, mould and grime comes off. Some stains fade rather than disappear, because they've soaked into the surface. The usual ones are oil, rust and tannin (the brown stain left by wet leaves). If we think a stain might not fully lift, we'll say so in your quote.
A roof soft wash (a low-pressure clean with a solution that kills moss and lichen) keeps improving for a few weeks after we visit, as rain rinses the dead growth away. Your roof won't look finished on the day, and that's expected.
11Mould and moss growing back
Mould, moss and lichen are living things. Over time they grow back, faster in shade and on damp, south-facing surfaces. Regrowth over time is natural and isn't a defect in our work. We're happy to advise on how often a surface is likely to need cleaning.
12Safety and working at height
We don't work on wet roofs or in high wind. We do work at height safely, using the right equipment for the roof and the pitch.
The crew on site decides whether a roof or other area is safe to work on. If it isn't, we'll tell you why and suggest another way. You won't be charged for any part of the job we don't do.
13Solar panels
We clean solar panels with soft brushes and purified water only. We never use pressure or cleaning chemicals on them, and we don't touch wiring or electrical parts.
If a panel looks cracked, loose or damaged, we won't clean it. We'll tell you what we saw so you can have it checked.
14Who does the work
Your job may be carried out by licensed contractors working on our behalf. Whoever does the work, your contract is with us, and we remain responsible to you for the job, the price and the result.
15Photos
We take before and after photos of the areas we clean, for our records. We only use them in marketing if you agree, and we avoid or blur house numbers and number plates. See our privacy policy.
16Payment
Payment is due when the job is finished, unless your quote says otherwise. We'll send you an invoice, and the ways you can pay are listed on it.
If you think something on your invoice is wrong, tell us within 7 days. Pay the part you agree with, and we'll work through the rest with you. We'll hold off chasing the part in question while we sort it out.
We don't charge late fees or interest unless your quote says so.
17Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.
Nothing in these terms or in our quotes excludes, restricts or changes those rights.
Our guarantee is in addition to these rights.
18Liability
We're responsible for loss or damage we cause through a lack of due care and skill. If we damage something, tell us as soon as you can, with photos if possible, and we'll repair it, pay for the repair, or pay you its reasonable value.
As far as the law allows, we're not responsible for loss or damage that wasn't reasonably foreseeable, that comes from a defect that was already there, or that happens because something we asked about wasn't disclosed, such as a known leak.
Nothing in this section limits or excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
19Complaints
If something isn't right, please tell us. Ring or email us with what happened and, if you can, a photo. We'll respond within 2 business days, and aim to sort it out within 10 business days.
If we can't resolve it between us, you can contact NSW Fair Trading at fairtrading.nsw.gov.au.
20Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales. You and we agree to the jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of New South Wales, including the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
21Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last changed at the top. The terms that apply to your job are the ones in place when you accepted your quote.
